Japan - Day 8

Another day, another road trip.
We started off at an amusement park of sorts - it boasted the largest limestone cave in this part of Asia - and it really didn’t disappoint. It was massive, really massive, and the light, colours and shadows were excellent. I even learned a bit about the formation of the caves, the animal life that lived within, along with some exercise. We walked around the park, and took a look at the weirdest snake show, which included a mongoose. I’m still not sure what the purpose of the actual mongoose v snake race was about - did I mention that the show was in Japanese and Chinese without any subtitles for the 2 English speakers.
We also saw lots of tortoises and turtles before we left the weird place.
Next was one of the many peace memorials. Okinawa had some signifiant battles in WW2. The park was ok for a walk, but it lacked the sense of peacefulness that I expected.
On or drive of drives, we also visited beaches, light houses and a botanical park. We met a load of capybaras there - first time I’ve seen one. Its an interesting animal that is able to use it front legs as hand type limbs.
The last visit of the day was to a lantern show around a mock Japanese village. It was pretty cool as lanterns shows go - that said it was our first one.
We finished off in the American Village again - regardless of what I’d thought of it the previous night, the choice of eateries was impressive. We dodged the pizza and chose to have the Okinawa Soba (local dish)- which ended up a bit of a disappointment. But at least it was ticked off.
After a short drive back to the hotel, I had a couple of beers at their roof top bar. The scenery wasn’t as dramatic as advertised, though it was dark I suppose.
We took a quick pick of the hotel supplied PJs (it's a thing in Japan) and went to bed.
