Our first full day back in Tokyo began as we meant to go on – with parks, shrines, and temples.
The weather had returned to bright and chilly, perfect for plenty of comfortable outdoor walking.
We started with breakfast at a chain I hadn’t heard of before – Eggslut. Apparently it’s a thing, but I prefer my eggs a little more cooked. It made for a change, though I’m not rushing back.
From there, we set off on foot through a huge urban park, reminiscent of New York’s Central Park: a beautiful green space filled with trees, lakes, and greenhouses, all surrounded by the bustle of the city – an island of calm and quietness.
I took plenty of photos of the immaculately manicured trees.
We also visited a few local, less touristy temples and wandered through their peaceful grounds.
We found Godzilla perched high on top one of the tall buildings.
For lunch, we had booked a ramen-making class that combined culture with food. There were only three of us in the session, and it involved less actual cooking than expected, but it was good fun overall. The ramen turned out well – certainly very edible.
After lunch, it was time for another walk.
